چکیده
Pharmaceutically active compounds have increasingly been detected in groundwater worldwide. Despite constituting a risk for human health and ecosystems, their fate the environment has still not exhaustively investigated. This study characterizes transport behavior of five selected pharmaceutically (antipyrine, atenolol, caffeine, carbamazepine sulfamethoxazole) two sediments (coarse quartz sand sandy loam) using column experiments with long-term injection spiked groundwater. Transport parameters were estimated an analytical reactive model. When injected simultaneously, antipyrine, antibiotic sulfamethoxazole similar to conservative tracer both under varying redox conditions. Atenolol caffeine retarded significantly stronger loam sediment than coarse sand. Biodegradation was observed after adaption period depended on dissolved oxygen. The identification biodegradation processes supported by monitoring intracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATPitc) as measure microbial activity. ATPitc present concentrations all highest when pharmaceuticals, especially observed. only degraded while degradation reduced. latter seemed be influenced low oxygen rather presence sulfamethoxazole. Results these emphasize impact pharmaceutical sorption (bio)degradation type conditions, well available time combination pharmaceuticals that are released together into

Sorption and biodegradation of organic micropollutants during river bank filtration: a laboratory column study.
This study investigated sorption and biodegradation behaviour of 14 organic micropollutants (OMP) in soil columns representative of the first metre (oxic conditions) of the river bank filtration (RBF) process. Breakthrough curves were modelled to differentiate between OMP sorption and biodegradation. The main objective of this study was to investigate if the OMP biodegradation rate could be rel...
متن کاملIdentification of TCE and PCE sorption and biodegradation parameters in a sandy aquifer for fate and transport modelling: batch and column studies
The main aim of this study was to determine the sorption and biodegradation parameters of trichloroethene (TCE) and tetrachloroethene (PCE) as input data required for their fate and transport modelling in a Quaternary sandy aquifer. Sorption was determined based on batch and column experiments, while biodegradation was investigated using the compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA). The aquife...

In order to achieve sustainable development, environmental protection shall constitute an integral part of the development process and cannot be considered in isolation from it [1]. The environment, especially water ecosystem, is continuously loaded with foreign organic chemicals (xenobiotics) released by urban communities and industries. Water is not a com‐ mercial product like any other but, ...
متن کاملDetermination of sorption of seventy-five pharmaceuticals in sewage sludge.
Sorption of 75 active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to three different types of sludge (primary sludge, secondary sludge with short and long sludge age respectively) were investigated. To obtain the sorption isotherms batch studies with the APIs mixture were performed in four nominal concentrations to water containing 1 g of sludge. The range of APIs concentrations was between ng L(-1) to μ...
